Without playing, world champion Lasker gave his title to challenger Capablanca in 1920. He did not accept that and demanded a real match. Eventually, they played a world championship in Havana in 1921. Whoever got 8 points first would win. Draws did not count. after the fourteenth match, Lasker trailed 4-0 and gave up.
In the same year, the book “The World’s Championship chess match played at Havana between Jose Raul Capablanca and Dr. Emanuel Lasker” by Hartwig Cassel was published in a limited edition of 600 copies.
